The Meserani Project, Tanzania
The Meserani Project provide education, resources, and life-changing opportunities for local communities in Tanzania.
The Meserani Project is a grassroots charity dedicated to transforming young people's access to education across East Africa. Many in this region face barriers to schooling due to poverty, family circumstances, and limited educational infrastructure. Though small in scale, the Meserani Project has made a significant impact since its launch in 2009.
SCCI Alphatrack partner, Virgin Media O2 (VMO2), is a long-term supporter of the project, working with the charity for many years.
In January 2025, a team of 15 volunteers from VMO2 travelled to Tanzania to help develop critical utilities at a school. Their work included the installation of projectors and blinds, security lights, solar panels, and wired plug sockets in the school's classrooms and buildings.
Additionally, VMO2 painted all existing classrooms and purchased 500 trees, providing shade and fruit for the students and teachers.
A Helping Hand
Recognising that small sums can make a big difference, VMO2 approached SCCI Alphatrack, asking for a small donation to assist the development of the school.
It was an easy 'yes,' and SCCI Alphatrack was honoured to contribute a seemingly meagre £437—enough to provide a rainwater harvesting system for the school's dining area.
A Small Gesture, A Big Difference
Rainwater harvesting is a sustainable and cost-effective method of collecting and storing rainwater in water scarce environments; it improves water supplies for drinking, cooking, and sanitation, reducing dependence on external sources. This not only improves daily life for students and staff but also fosters self-sufficiency and resilience in the face of water shortages
Initiatives like these help create lasting change, providing practical solutions to everyday challenges. A simple plaque on-site acknowledges SCCI Alphatrack's contribution, but the real impact is seen in the day-to-day lives of the school community.
A quiet yet meaningful step forward, demonstrating how a small gesture can make a big difference.
