On 5th & 6th June 2019 the world’s leaders, royalty and other dignitaries, gathered in Portsmouth and Normandy, France, to recognise the 75th anniversary of the D-day landings.
Ceremonies were held in both Portsmouth and in Normandy to remember the incredible sacrifices on that day, and to give thanks to those still alive to tell the tale. In recognition of the momentous events of that day 75 years ago, three hundred veterans travelled from Portsmouth across the English Channel, and other veterans even parachuted in to Normandy, and this all formed part of a huge international moment of remembrance and reflection.
The world’s TV broadcasters and media outlets were present in the UK and France to deliver these images to millions of TV screens around the world, and Links Broadcast were proud to play a small part in these commemorative events by providing uplink facilities in both countries.
In Portsmouth we provided an SNG uplink vehicle and crew for distribution of a live stand-up position with multiple satellite paths for the USA’s Fox News and the White-House pool feeds.
In Normandy we also provided uplink facilities and crew for the events around Bayeux and Omaha Beach and we delivered multiplexed satellite paths for Fox News across all of the dates.
