Brown's Hotel London

Airwave implement guest room entertainment technology at Brown's Hotel in London's Mayfair district.

The Brand

Founded by Sir Rocco Forte and his sister, Lady Olga Polizzi,  Rocco Forte Hotels is a British hotel group known for luxury and exceptional service.

The group owns and operates 14 prestigious hotels across Europe, with notable properties including the iconic Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh and the Hotel de Russie in Rome.

The Hotel

Established in 1832, the five-star Brown’s Hotel is located in the heart of Mayfair, London.

One of London’s most prestigious and historic hotels, Brown’s is famous for its quintessentially British, charm and elegance. The property boasts 115 stylish rooms and suites, each offering a blend of traditional British décor with contemporary touches.

Brown's award-winning dining options, include the iconic The Drawing Room — where afternoon tea has become a coveted experience — and refined British cuisine at Charlie’s

The Donovan Bar, named after photographer Terence Donovan, has long been the destination of choice for Mayfair’s most discerning sippers.

And beyond leisure, the hotel caters for business travellers with elegantly designed meeting & event spaces. The Spa at Brown’s adds a wellness component to the stay, offering relaxation and rejuvenation via bespoke treatments.

The Technology

Recognising that content is king, Airwave was tasked to provide a comprehensive line-up of content options, offering all guest demographics a varied, premium television experience.

This was fronted by an Uniguest TV (Cloud) guest room entertainment platform, deployed on each TV display and providing an intelligent platform for the customisation of the display’s interface.

Key features of the Mirage platform include:

- TV channel line-up management

- Fully customisable 1080p information pages, with online editor

- External TV inputs, including commercially certified Chromecast

Chromecast was implemented on each TV, providing guests with a vehicle to cast content from their own device, to the TV.

Complementing Chromecast’s watch what you want, when you want offering, Airwave implemented a Sky Brightbox, delivering high-definition Sky TV service in each of the hotel’s guest rooms.

Sky TV looks great on the hotel’s chosen TV displays; Airwave flat-to-wall mounted a mixture of 43-inch, 50-inch and 55-inch Samsung AU8000 Series hospitality displays across the hotel's five floors. In addition, LG set top boxes were integrated with bathroom TV displays in 10 of the hotel’s suites, creating a truly luxurious in-room entertainment experience.

Other technology implemented includes:-

- An EasyStream IPTV headend, providing international channels and foreign-language content for the for the hotel’s global clientele

- PMS integration, delivering a number of additional features to the system, including personalised welcome messages on the TV.

- A multiday EPG subscription

Airwave is honoured to have provided guest room entertainment technology at this historic hotel, helping it maintain its position as a standout destination for guests seeking a something out of the ordinary hotel experience.
