SCCI Alphatrack and 4Fibre blend 17th-Century Charm with 21st-Century Connectivity

The Development

Exchange Court is a restored 17th century building located between the Strand and Maiden Lane in London's City of Westminster. The prestigious development is situated in a restored 17th century building, moments from Covent Garden's bustling piazza, iconic theatres, and world-class dining and shopping destinations.

The development comprises of luxurious apartments, characterised by high ceilings, large windows, and meticulously designed interiors. Residents benefit from its prime location, providing easy access to Covent Garden and Leicester Square Underground stations, as well as the cultural landmarks and energy of London’s West End.

The Proposal

Exchange Court's freeholder and managing agents (D&GBM) were looking to deploy a full-fibre solution to meet growing resident demand for faster broadband. They'd explored options with several ISPs but harboured concerns over multiple breaches of fire compartmentation through the building's risers (vertical spaces or shafts designed to house essential utility services, such as pipes and cables).

Sensing a stalemate, an ISP recommended 4Fibre. A single, well-planned installation, fire-stopped, and certified afterward? That sounded like a one-and-done solution worth pursuing!

The Delivery

With a 4Fibre access agreement soon secured, SCCI Alphatrack conducted a survey and delivered a detailed planning pack. Once the plan was greenlit, a 4Fibre solution was implemented, offering up to four ISPs a dedicated fibre cable—all installed with just one penetration per wall, floor, or flat.

This low-visual-impact installation involved cutting holes for ceiling access hatches, routing cables discreetly, and terminating a point-of-entry box just outside each apartment door.

The system provides fully independent access for up to four full fibre broadband ISPs connected 'all the way' to the site’s 21 apartments. Now, any ISP wishing to service the property, can do so easily, without running any cables through the common areas.

4Fibre’s intervention in the Exchange Court project has enable the delivery of a future-proof, low-carbon solution to the apartments. Residents now benefit from a wider choice of ISP provider, and D&GBM can rest easy knowing the job is sustainably sound, clean, compliant, and ready to deliver blazing-fast broadband for years to come.
